FishEvo group attended the Neuroethology 2022 congress in Lisbon:-)

Five members of our research group attended the International Congress of Neuroethology, where we presented our research and we enjoyed to finally meet with scientists in our field in person.

Veronika presenting her finding on vision in cyprinid fishes in her talk entitled: “Visual system and its developmental changes in European cyprinid fishes (family Cyprinidae)”:

Gina talking about mormyrid vision at the Electric-fish satellite symposium, and later presented also in her poster entitled: “Evolution of vision in elephant fishes (Mormyridae) – why subtle differences matter”:

Prokop presented his poster on “Vision in sturgeons: evolution of the opsin genes and how to see without rod cells in retina” and Zuzka Konvičková showed her results on ontogeny of the common barbel visual system on the poster entitled: “How does the common barbel (Barbus barbus) see? The effect of the whole-genome duplication on vision”. And I (Zuza) have given a talk on how “To see with multiple rhodopsins: extraordinary vision in the deep-sea fishes”:-)

As a bonus, we had a chance to visit great Lisbon Oceanárium with the famous Mola mola sunfish and plenty of other cool fish around:
