Field work in Cameroon successful including the safe return home during the corona peak

The FishEvo team of Gina, Monika and Dima performed field work in Cameroon this spring.

Accompanied by two PhD students from University of Douala (Cameroon) and two PhD students focused on the brain evolution, the team’s effort was to collect samples of freshwater fishes. Most of the activities happened in the Sanaga river system and the team has collected samples of mormyrid fishes.

We were also lucky to get touch on fish from the Barombi Mbo crater lake thanks to the collaboration with the local fishermen.

The most adventurous part was to get back home as the team left  from the usual Schengen Europe but they suddenly had to come back in Europe with locked boarders and bans everywhere… Luckily everyone got home safe and nobody got stuck at any airport.

Big thanks to all FishEvo members, our colleagues and Charles University authorities who helped us in all stages with solving various issues!
